Deborah Newbrun is the co-author of "Spirit In Nature/Teaching Judaism and Ecology on the Trail." She has worked as a naturalist and Jewish educator for the past 35 years and served 26 of those years as Director of Camp Tawonga, a Jewish overnight camp near Yosemite. Deborah received the prestigious Covenant Award in 2018 for innovating Jewish education at camp, family camps and in nature programming. Deborah has served as the Bay Area for national organizations including Keshet and Hazon. Currently Deborah serves as the Director of Queer Talmud Camp for SVARA--A Traditionally Radical Yeshiva based in Chicago. Deborah lives in Berkeley with her wife Sue and her dog Noodle. Their four children are grown and bring them nachas every day!
